How Shade Sniper works

A grid of seemingly identical squares hides exactly one that's a slightly different shade. Tap it to advance. As you climb, the grid grows and the colour difference shrinks — so the game keeps finding the exact edge of what your eyes can distinguish. You have 60 seconds; your score is how many odd squares you catch.

Under the hood the game measures the shade gap in a perceptual colour space — the kind designers and display engineers use — and it enforces a floor, so the difference is always genuinely visible on a decent screen. When you miss, it isn't a trick: the square really was different.

Colour discrimination, not colour blindness

Worth being clear about: this is a colour discrimination game, testing how finely you separate near-identical shades. It is not a medical test and can't tell you whether you have a colour vision deficiency — that's a job for an optician. Sharpening your eye

Scan systematically instead of darting randomly — sweep rows, or defocus slightly and let the odd square "pop." Screen brightness, night-mode filters and viewing angle all change what's visible, so give yourself a fair canvas: decent brightness, straight-on view.
